Dr. Terry Parsons' journey into medicine began with a childhood dream. Inspired by the idea of a small-town doctor who knew every patient and cared for them fiercely, she knew from a young age that she was called to be a family physician.
While her dream of becoming a doctor was a constant calling, her desire to be a wife and mother came first. Today, she and her husband of 30 years, Richard, are the proud parents of four amazing, grown children. While her children were still in school, Dr. Parsons pursued her medical dream with unwavering determination. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Middle Tennessee State University before attending Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. There, her passion for advocacy and leadership led her to serve as the National Student President for the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) and she was honored to be chosen by her peers and professors to be inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Nominees must be exemplars of compassionate patient care who serve as role models, mentors, and leaders in medicine and are the ones whom others say they want taking care of their own family.
Dr. Parsons has always been passionate about building deep, meaningful relationships with her patients. To serve those most in need, she chose to complete her Family Medicine Residency with the Healthcare District of the Palm Beaches, at the time Florida’s only rural family medicine program. This provided her with extensive, full-scope training in both hospital and clinic settings, from caring for newborns to adults and covering a vast range of medical specialties. She went on to private practice in an insurance based fee for service medical clinic then later to a direct primary care model for large employers with self funded insurance plans and it was through these experiences that she saw firsthand how the modern healthcare system can fail patients and how direct primary care can be a solution. Frustrated by a system where corporate and insurance interests create barriers between doctors and their patients, she became convinced there had to be a better way—one where clinical decisions are made by the physician and the patient, not by executives in a boardroom.
Golden Rule Direct Primary Care is the fulfillment of that vision. By removing the middlemen and offering a simple, affordable monthly membership, Dr. Parsons can focus on what truly matters: advocating for her patients and treating them with the respect and compassion she would want for her own family. Her practice is built on a simple but powerful mission: "To provide affordable, high-quality primary care for everyone, treating patients with the respect and compassion they deserve."
